A single multifunction peripheral for business use and combines several functions, including photocopying, printing and scanning.
Datacenter Cooling Systems
A system for reducing the temperature of data center environments by using fans, air conditioning, water or a combination of these.
Datacenter Power Systems
A system for providing power to data centers. Larger in form factor than desktop versions of uninterruptible power system (UPS), they often feature extensive fault tolerance and resilience capabilities.
Enterprise Servers
A computer that services 50 or more concurrent users and runs at least one Server OS. Rack mounted or blade servers that share key physical components, such as power and hard disks are also applicable.
Enterprise Storage
A networked storage system, either a NAS, SAN or a hybrid of both, for enterprise-wide deployment, large-size data centers and mission-critical applications. They feature maximum scalability, industry-leading performance, a fully integrated suite of centralized management tools, and data protection and disaster recovery features.
NETWORKING
Enterprise LAN
A network device that can be either a switch or a router, which filters and forwards data packets along a connected and wired network. Typically, this network shares the resources of a single processor or server within a small geographic area (e.g. within an office building) and can serve as few as 2 users.
Enterprise WAN
A network device that can be either a switch or a router, which that filters and forwards data packets between connected and wired network that consists of more than 1 LAN that are geographically separated. Typically, this network connects geographically dispersed user areas, often linking LANs in multiple locations from around the world.
WAN Optimization
A network device for accelerating and optimizing the performance of WANs to enable consistent and better service levels for applications being delivered.
WLAN
A network device for filtering and forwarding data packets between wireless devices and/or LANs that are wirelessly connected.
Video Conferencing Systems
A product or a suite of products for enabling simultaneous audio and video communication between different parties. Typically, it combines hardware and software and are often installed in conference and meeting rooms. Web conferencing products that are installed in PCs or as an app in mobile devices ARE NOT part of this category.
Ethernet Fabric Technology/Platform
A technology or platform for flatter, highly scalable topologies that enable low latency via one- or two-hop connectivity, especially in data center switching. It extends the control and management planes beyond the physical Ethernet switch into the fabric for higher levels of performance, utilization, availability and simplicity. Typically, it eliminates the need for Spanning Tree Protocol, can be architected in a variety of network topologies for addressing different workloads, feature multiple “least cost” paths, and easily scales up and down at need.
SOFTWARE
Messaging and Collaboration
Software for communicating and collaborating with users within or outside the organization. It includes offering for emails, calendar, IMs, SMSes, video/non-video conferencing and other forms of collaboration.
Application Server & Middleware
Software, also called an appserver, for processing all application requests between users and backend business applications or databases.
BI & Analytics
Software for gathering, analyzing and providing reports on stored data for better decision-making. Data Mining and OLAP software that analyzes data for correlation ARE NOT part of this category, unless it is a feature.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
Software for managing customer relationships at all customer interaction points in an organized way. Call center management software IS NOT part of this category.
Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)
New tools that combine include the physical and asset-level component management. DCIM leverages the integration of information technology (IT) and facility management disciplines to centralize monitoring, management and intelligent capacity planning of a data center's critical systems. Essentially it provides a significantly more comprehensive view of ALL of the resources within the data center.
Data Mining & OLAP
3Decision support software for analyzing and correlating data that has been summarized in multi-dimensional views or hierarchies, and identifying trends and patterns.
Database Management
Software or a collection of systems for accessing, organizing and searching a database.
Development Tools/Web Services
Software or suite of software tools for creating new software or services.
Document Management
Software or a collection of systems for managing and storing documents whose information is largely self-contained. Typically, it includes features to reduce paper use and enable the easy retrieval of key documents.
Enterprise Content Management
Software or a collection of systems for managing and storing information crucial to an organization’s operation in the most effective manner possible. Typically, it includes workflow optimization, audit trails, records management and other collaborative features.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Software for integrating all business functions, including but not limited to planning, manufacturing, sales and marketing. This category does not include SCM-only software IS NOT included in this category unless it is a feature.
Server OS
An operating system found in a server that includes file, task and job management and advanced systems management tools.
Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Software for controlling and managing a physical supply chain as a software process.
Systems Management
Software or a collection of systems for configuring and managing IT resources from a single console that may include network resources.
Server Virtualization
Virtualization software or hypervisor for masking server resources, including the number and identity of individual physical servers, processors, and operating systems, and making them appear as a single virtual server.
Desktop Virtualization
Virtualization software or hypervisor for masking client resources (as opposed to server resources), in which the logical operating system is isolated, regardless whether it is located locally (also known as DVD) or remotely (also known as VDI), and making them appear as a single virtual desktop.
Mobile OS
An operating system found in a mobile device that includes rudimentary file, task and job management, as well as some degree of system management capabilities.

Corporate Mobile Services Provider
A company based in Hong Kong that provides mobile connectivity services, such as GPRS, GSM, 3G, EDGE, HDSPA, 4G etc., to organizations. Companies that provide WLAN and MESH services ARE included in this category.
Data & Telecoms Services Provider
A company based in Hong Kong that provides data and telecoms-related services, such as IP-PBX, IP-VPN, MPLS etc., and managed network services to organizations.
Consulting & Systems Integration Provider
A company or a division/department within a company based in Hong Kong that provides IT consulting and system integration services to organizations that covers IT software, domain-specific functions, or infrastructure-related consulting.

IT Outsourcing & Managed Services Provider
A company or a division/department within a company based in Hong Kong that provides outsourcing services and managed services to organizations, including but not limited to infrastructure operation management, applications help desk support, software development outsourcing and business process outsourcing etc. Companies that offer security, managed telecom services, or colocation/hosting ARE NOT included in this category.
Data Center Services Provider
A company or a division/department within in a company based in Hong Kong that provides services for data centers. This often includes a service provider offering physical equipment space, network access, physical security and bandwidth for rental but can also include those who manage entire data centers for an organization or manage an organization’s data center in a hosted environment.
IT Training Provider
A company or a division/department within in a company based in Hong Kong that provides training services in the use of IT systems to organizations. Companies that offer this service as a value-add in a sale of products and not as a separate service offering ARE NOT included in this category.
SECURITY
Antivirus/Antispam
Software for searching IT systems for viruses and/or spam and removing/blocking/quarantining them when found. Standalone devices featuring this software as well as client and server versions ARE part of this category.
Content Filtering/Anti-Spyware
Software for filtering incoming/outgoing content for harmful/unintended content, while preventing other software programs from gathering, appending, changing or deleting content without permission. Standalone devices featuring this software as well as client and server versions ARE part of this category.
Firewall/VPN
Software for preventing unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets, by combining filtering techniques and encryption. Standalone devices featuring this software ARE part of this category. Standalone Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) ARE NOT included in this category.
Identity Management
Software for protecting user digital identities using identity protection techniques/algorithms and authentication. Standalone devices featuring this software as well as client and server versions ARE part of this category.
Intrusion Detection/Intrusion Prevention (IDS/IPS)
Software for monitoring network and/or system activities for malicious or unwanted behavior and can react, in real-time, to block or prevent those activities.
Unified Threat Management (UTM)
A security appliance or a suite of software programs that integrates a range of security features, including firewall, gateway anti-virus, and intrusion detection and prevention capabilities.
Managed Security Service Provider
A company based in Hong Kong that offers managed services related to information and network security management to organizations. Companies that provide physical security, such as the installation of surveillance cameras and security guards, ARE NOT included in this category.
Mobile Device Management (MDM)
A software or platform for securing, monitoring, and supporting mobile devices across the enterprise, mobile operators or service providers. Typically, it covers (but is not limited to) OTA application distribution, remote management of mobile data and remote management of configuration settings. They also can manage a variety of devices, not just smartphones, and can include traditional mobile phones, tablets, mobile printers, mobile POS devices, specialized industry mobile devices for use indoors and outdoors etc.
STORAGE
Backup and Recovery
Management tool for backup and recovery of data. This may include software used to manage sequential-access media such as tapes and disks or online tools that use virtualized or hosted space for backup. It can be a feature of a storage management tool or can be a standalone product.
NOTE: The nomination will be judged on its backup storage management capabilities only. Other features in addition to this will not be assessed.
Storage Management
A management tool that includes SRM and SAN management software, performance monitoring, file systems, volume management, virtualization, security, etc. Software that is bundled as an appliance or device IS included in this category.
E-discovery
Software that facilitates the identification, collection, preservation, processing, review, analysis and production of electronically stored information. Typically, it is used to meet the demands for legal, regulatory and administration oversight needs.
Storage Virtualization
Software or hypervisor for masking storage resources, including the number, identity and location of individual physical storage devices, and making them appear as a single virtual storage.
