A single multifunction peripheral designed for business use and services several functions, mainly photocopying, printing and scanning.

Datacenter Cooling Systems
A system designed for reducing the temperature of data center environments through the use of fans, air conditioning, water or a combination of these cooling technologies.

Datacenter Power Systems
A system that is designed to provide power to data centers. They are larger in form factor that desktop versions of uninterruptible power system (UPS), and often feature extensive fault tolerance and resilience capabilities.

Enterprise Servers
A computer that services to 50 or more concurrent users and runs at least one Server OS. This category also includes rack mounted or blade servers that share key physical components, such as power and hard disks.

Enterprise Storage
A networked storage system, either a NAS, SAN or a hybrid of both, for enterprise-wide deployment, large-size data centers and mission-critical applications. They feature maximum scalability, industry-leading performance, a fully integrated suite of centralized management tools, and data protection and disaster recovery features.

Software that searches IT systems for viruses and/or spam and removes/blocks/quarantines them when they are found. This category includes standalone devices featuring this software as well as client and server versions.

Content Filtering/Anti-Spyware
Software that searches incoming/outgoing content for harmful/unintended content, while preventing other software programs gathering, appending, changing or deleting content without permission. This category includes standalone devices featuring this software as well as client and server versions.

Software that prevents unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets, using a combination filtering techniques and/or encryption. This category includes standalone devices featuring this software.

Identity Management
Software that protects user digital identities using identity protection techniques/algorithms and authentication. This category includes standalone devices featuring this software as well as client and server versions.

Intrusion Detection/Intrusion Prevention (IDS/IPS)
Software hat monitors network and/or system activities for malicious or unwanted behavior and can react, in real-time, to block or prevent those activities.

Unified Threat Management (UTM)
A security appliance or a suite of software programs that integrates a range of security features, including firewall, gateway anti-virus, and intrusion detection and prevention capabilities.

Managed Security Services
A company based in Hong Kong that offers managed services related to information and network security management to businesses. This category does not include physical security, such as the installation of surveillance cameras and security guards.

Mobile Device Management (MDM)
This is a software or platform that allows users to secure, monitor, and support mobile devices across the enterprise, mobile operators or service providers. Typically, MDM covers (but is not limited to) OTA application distribution, remote management of mobile data and remote management of configuration settings. They can also manage a variety of devices, not just smartphones, that can include traditional mobile phones, tablets, mobile printers, mobile POS devices, specialized industry mobile devices for use indoors and outdoors etc.

Corporate Mobile Services Provider
A company based in Hong Kong that provides mobile connectivity services, such as GPRS, GSM, 3G, EDGE, HDSPA, 4G etc., to organizations. This category includes companies that provide WLAN and MESH services.

Data & Telecoms Services Provider
A company based in Hong Kong providing data and telecoms-related services, such as IP-PBX, IP-VPN, MPLS etc., to other organizations.

Consulting & Systems Integration
A company or a division/department within a company based in Hong Kong that provides IT consulting and system integration services to organizations and can cover IT software, domain-specific functions, or infrastructure-related consulting.
NOTE: The service MUST be provided as a separate offering in the portfolio and NOT just as a value-add in a sale of products.

IT Outsourcing & Managed Services
A company or a division/department within a company based in Hong Kong providing outsourcing services and managed services to organizations, including but not limited to infrastructure operation management, applications help desk support, software development outsourcing and business process outsourcing etc.
NOTE: This category does NOT include security, managed telecom services, or colocation/hosting.

Hosted Unified Communications
A company or a division/department within a company based in Hong Kong providing products and services via the Internet to facilitate and manage the use of multiple communication methods (IM, email, video or voice conferencing) across the Internet.

Cloud Infrastructure and Hosting Service
A company or a division/department within in a company based in Hong Kong providing cloud infrastructure services and hosting services. These services can be purchased from dedicated or shared infrastructure, often based on clustered load-balanced servers, with a utility billing system (e.g. by CPU or storage space). This category includes Cloud IaaS providers that offer a full spectrum of products and services to manage application and infrastructure hosting outside of an organization’s premise.
NOTE: This category does NOT include traditional infrastructure outsourcing or colocation services for data centers.

Data Center Colocation Service
A company or a division/department within in a company based in Hong Kong providing colocation for data centers. This often includes a service provider offering physical equipment space, network access, physical security and bandwidth for rental.

Enterprise Router
A network device for forwarding data packets along networks and is connected to 50 or more concurrent users.

Enterprise Switch
A network device for filtering and forwarding data packets between networks or LAN segments, and is connected to 50 or more concurrent users.

WAN Optimization
A network device that accelerates and optimizes the performance of networks to enable consistent and better service levels for applications being delivered across a wide area network.

WLAN Switch
A network device for filtering and forwarding data packets between wireless devices and wireless LAN segments.

Video Conferencing Systems
A suite of products and technology providing two-way simultaneous audio and video transmission between different parties across different locations. It is typically a hardware and software offering installed in conference and meeting rooms. This category does not include web conferencing products that are installed in PCs or as an app in mobile devices.

Ethernet Fabric Technology/Platform
This is a type of Ethernet that offers better functionality, utilization, accessibility and ease-of-use able when compared to traditional hierarchical architecture, as it automatically scales up or down depending on demand. Fully aware of all its paths, it eliminates the need to use the Spanning Tree Protocol that introduces inefficiencies/redundancies.

Messaging, Conferencing and Collaboration
Software used for communicating and collaborating with users within or outside the organization. It includes offering for emails, calendar, IMs, SMSes, video/non-video conferencing and other forms of collaboration.

Application Server & Middleware
Software, also called an appserver, which processes all application requests between users and backend business applications or databases.

BI and Analytics
Software that gathers, analyzes and provides reports on stored data for better decision-making. This category does not include Data Mining and OLAP software that analyzes data for correlation but can be included if it is a feature.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
Software that helps users to manage customer relationships at all customer interaction points in an organized way. This category does not include call center management software.

Data Mining & OLAP
Decision support software that allows users to analyze and correlate data that has been summarized in multi-dimensional views or hierarchies, and identify trends and patterns.

Database Management
Software or a collection of systems that allows users to access, organize and search data found in a database.

Development Tools/Web Services

Software or suite of software tools that can be used to create new software or services.

Document and Content Management
Software or collection of systems that allow users to manage according to documents or content and store documents/content whose information is largely self-contained.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Software that integrates all business functions, including but not limited to planning, manufacturing, sales and marketing. This category does not include SCM-only software, but can be included as a component/feature/module.

Server OS
An operating system found in a server that includes file, task and job management and advanced systems management tools.

Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Software that enables the control and management of a physical supply chain as a software process.

Systems Management
Software or a collection of systems for configuring and managing IT resources from a single console that may include network resources.

Server Virtualization Platform
Virtualization software or hypervisor that masks server resources, including the number and identity of individual physical servers, processors, and operating systems, from server users.

Desktop Virtualization Platform
Virtualization software or hypervisor that masks client resources (as opposed to server resources), in which the logical operating system is isolated, regardless whether it is located locally (also known as DVD) or remotely (also known as VDI).

Mobile OS
An operating system found in a mobile device that includes rudimentary file, task and job management, as well as some degree of system management capabilities.

Backup and Recovery
A management tool that allows users to backup and recover data. This may include software used to manage sequential-access media such as tapes and disks or online tools that use virtualized or hosted space for backup It can be a feature of a storage management tool or a standalone product.
NOTE: The nomination will be judged on its backup storage management capabilities only. Other features in addition to this will not be assessed.

Storage Management
A management tool that includes SRM and SAN management software, performance monitoring, file systems, volume management, virtualization, security, etc. This category includes software that is bundled as an appliance or device.

Data Center Infrastructure Management
A management tool(s) that combines the physical and asset-level component management. DCIM leverages the integration of information technology (IT) and facility management disciplines to centralize monitoring, management and intelligent capacity planning of a data center's critical systems. Essentially it provides a significantly more comprehensive view of ALL the resources within the data center.
